In the year 1300 it was the considered the biggest city in the world. It has the largest religious monument in the world – Angkor Wat.

It was the seat of kings, home to the Khmer empire for 600 years, an incredible feat of urban engineering in a flood plain and rainforest.

Then it was abandoned, left to the jungle for centuries, with only a handful of farmers and priests living in the ruins. Angkor held its mysteries tightly – there are no graves, no bones, few traces of the ancient Khmer who lived there.

Now a new generation of Cambodian experts have set out to rebuild and preserve the city using lost engineering with modern science.

…and uncovering secrets buried for centuries.
